Ancient Jain Caves, Vallimalai, District-Vellore (Tamil Nadu)

Vallimalai had been one of the most important Jain centres during the early Medieval Period and the natural caves were converted into Jain abodes according to Kannada inscriptions.

यह अत्यंत प्राचीन पहाड़ी जैन साधुओं की साधना स्थली रही है। इस गुफा का निर्माण नौवीं दसवीं शताब्दी में कराया गया था।

Excellent Jain pilgrimage center.

It was earlier known as Palli Malai(பள்ளி மலை), which is now changed as Valli Malai (வள்ளி மலை).

There are three different places to be visited. First one is on the Vellore road side Hill cave and statues of theerthangarar at three different places. Second one is archeological department protected site on the right side of the main entrance. Third one is subramaniya temple itself. Still, one can find the remains of Jain statues.
