Digamber Jain Temple in Karkala, Udupi
Gommateshwara (Bahubali) statue was installed in 1432, by king Veera Pandya. It is 13m tall, 3.15 m wide. It is placed on 1.5m pedestal. If you go behind the massive structure, you will notice Tirtankaras.
At the entrance, you will notice Bramayaksha Manastamba, which is 25 feet tall, and built in 1436.if you go to the left, there is a small pond.
The surrounding view is very beautiful. Chaturmuka Basadi can be seen from here. You can park your bike down, and climb a few steps to reach the top. Very beautiful and cool place. Well maintained as well. This pace comes under archeological survey of india protected sites.
